Joe Lawson AWCF - Master Farrier

"There is something about the outside of a horse, that is good for the inside of a man."

~ Sir Winston Churchill ~

Farriery is a passion as well as a profession. I started my apprenticeship in 2011 and qualified in 2015 achieving the diploma of the worshipful company of farriers (DipWCF). I then furthered my qualifications in 2019, taking the Associate exam that is a higher remedial based exam, testing both practical and theoretical knowledge and significant skill of modern materials in farriery.

I have had the privilege of working on many different types of horse and equine disciplines in my career. Furnishing me with valuable experience and knowledge in both everyday routine farriery and specialist remedial work.

Perhaps though, more importantly than skill level and qualifications is the correct attitude and approach to working on a strong, intelligent and characterful animal. Patience, understanding and compassion are all integral to my professional ethos.
